Nomad Overland Rally Highlights: Week One
The 2025 edition of the Nomad Overland Virtual Adventure Rally began with a burst of activity as some Teams were hot out of the gate and are already out exploring …
Our Nomad Teams were very busy during Week 6, racking up points around the country. We now have two teams past the 3,000-point level, seven teams over the 2,000-level and twelve above the 1,000-level. Remarkably the very top of the Leaderboard has remained stable with the same three Teams holding their positions for the fourth week in a row! However, while the three top teams are all well on their way towards completing their Overland Stages, others are starting to catch up as they log Stages, and a few teams are just getting started with their longer trips, so there could be some serious shuffling over the next few weeks. Team 117 Lucas remains in first place, and got to connect up with some of the other Teams at a big event in Naches, WA. Team 115 Newcomb held onto second place this week, as they continued their journey into South Dakota. Team 111 Potter held steady in third place, enjoying the EPIC 4X4 Quest event in Colorado this week. As the Rally moves into the seventh week of competition the teams are going to need to be strategic. The 6th Weekly Challenge, “Roadbooks and Maps,” seemed like it was fun for a number of teams this year, and many have done well on it so far. Different teams have different strengths in their outdoor exploration skills, and the breadth of themes covered in the Weekly Challenges, gives everyone an opportunity to collect some extra points in areas they are most familiar with.
