The Nomad Teams were working hard building up those points totals during Week 4. Many teams are in the middle of Overland Stages and there were a lot of training and stewardship activities happening over this week. There was some movement around the leaderboard as teams narrowed some gaps, but by the end of the week, Team 117 Lucas managed to hold onto first place with 3,469 points. Team 121 Rojas (aka DOGRNR) moved into second place with 2,469 points, pushing Team 101 Mercer into third place with 2,376 points. The top eight teams have all passed the 2,000-point mark, and five more have reached the 1,000-point level. With five more weeks of competition, the teams are at the halfway point in the rally. The Week 4 Challenge involved plotting on paper maps — and only a few teams have attempted it so far, but those who tried it, did quite well. The teams still have one more week to attempt it. Meanwhile Challenge #5 was released this morning and it is all about “outdoor skills” which should be a less intimidating theme.
Here are some Week 4 highlights from around the 2024 Nomad Overland Rally. The teams have continued amassing those points at a record pace this week. First Place Team 117 Lucas was exploring in Yellowstone and picking up lots of the “hard” animal PhotoQuests. Team 121 Rojas (Team DOGRNR) jumped into second place after four weeks of solidly building up points across the board. Team 101 Mercer was back out on the trails and completed all twelve Overland Stages — the first 2024 team to do so — finishing the week in Third Place. Team 129 Astor (Team NC Old Man Overland) are in the middle of their multi-stage trip in Colorado, where they are checking off a lot of points while exploring some beautiful places. Team 110 Smigiel has been busy exploring around the Sierra Nevadas in California, where they are strategically picking up as many points as possible. And more teams are now out on multi-stage trips working to narrow the points gaps! Check out the Leaderboard to see how everyone ranked at the end of Week 4.
